The European Biometrics Forum (EBF) established the International Biometric Advisory Council (IBAC) in November 2005 to provide advice and expert opinion to the EBF, its members and partners on the most pertinent issues facing biometrics globally.

The IBAC is tasked with removing ambiguity around the deployment and use of biometrics, developing a cohesive approach to and enhancing cooperation in Europe and globally and providing the EBF and its partners with cutting edge advice regarding key areas of interest which include; standards, interoperability and privacy.
